Where do you need lifts for the disabled?
Any public place where disabled people may wish to access, including shopping and sporting centres, places of public interest and businesses, need to offer fair and equal access to disabled people. This may seem like an incredibly obvious statement but, for a long time, this wasn’t the case and it’s only recently that people have started to take the plight of disabled people in society more seriously. There are strict regulations and you should read the proper documentation or seek advice if you are wondering whether you have done enough or what you may need to do to further comply with regulations.
Lifts, however, are often not a necessary inclusion; if there is only a small outside step to be covered, or something similar, then a ramp could well do the job just as well. A lift is a very expensive investment and, whilst it is a noble thing to do, it’s not worth it if it really isn’t necessary. Look into the rules and regulations and then decide whether you are embarking on something which is necessary; there are two sets of rules to follow- the moral ones and the legal ones.
