What about wheelchair access?

Wheelchair access is one of the most fundamental points to consider when thinking about your premises, your business or your shop and trying to decide whether or not it is as disabled-friendly as can be.  Wheelchair access is a big umbrella term which covers lots of different things which you need to think about. You need to consider how wheelchair users will get into your shop, do you need a ramp installed and you also need to consider whether or not you have enough space in the changing room or the toilet to accommodate them should the need arise.

There are also other things which people often forget to consider. For instance, would a wheelchair user be able to fit down all the aisles of your shop; particularly in a fashion shop, where space is at a premium, you still need to ensure that there is room for a wheelchair, and pushchairs for that matter, to be able to get through easily. If you are in an office setting then you need to think how a permanently wheelchair-bound employee might deal with a normal desk, or at a meeting table and whether or not special provisions need to be made.
