What is a scissor lift platform?
A scissor lift platform is a special kind of platform lift which is dealt with in much more detail on a specific page of this website. Scissor lift platforms are used in industry and thus are much larger than the other types of lift platforms which we have been discussing in the rest of these articles. The platform in question if hoisted up to a number of different heights by a scissor-like hydraulic arm which is raised and lowered at the whim of whoever is controlling the operating system at the time.
Scissor platform lifts come in different sizes and can be used to do very small jobs, such as changing lights on a very high ceiling, to big industrial jobs. They are used to carry people but also used to carry goods and freight as well; they offer a much more flexible way of moving heavy items between levels than a normal freight lift does and the fact that there are two sets of controls for the platform, one at the bottom and one of the platform itself means that, if there isn’t a human presence on the platform, the scissor lift can still be deployed and used.
