What are lift chairs?
Chair lifts, or stair lifts as they are often more commonly known, are lifts which are designed to help people who may have less physical mobility due to illness, disability or old age, to traverse stairs with greater ease and thus have a much better quality of life in their own home. They are a cheaper alternative, and a much more practical one, to getting a full lift fitted into a house and they are comfortable and easy for everyone to use; they really are the definition of foolproof.
The chair is powered by a lift mechanism and glides up a rail which is attached to the banister on the stairs; it’s called a chair lift because that’s exactly what it is; a chair. A normal, comfy chair which will transport you up or down your stairs in the lap of luxury. They should only be considered for short distances however, such as the ones found in a normal domestic home, they shouldn’t be considered for department stores or other large concerns as they are not a practical of moving large numbers of people quickly; they are really only suited to personal domestic use.
