What sort of stair lift service plan, warranty or guarantee do you offer?

Q. What sort of service plan, warranty or guarantee do you offer that will ensure that I am getting the proper value for my money?

A. The warranty varies depending on the manufacturer. Most stair lifts will now come with a two year warranty, although it may be necessary to have a service after the first year to validate the second year’s warranty. A service should cost around £60. If there is a problem during the warranty we will come out and fix the lift free of charge.   You can also purchase extended warranties the price will depend on whether it is a straight or curved lift.

Do you offer “reconditioned” stair lifts?

Q. Dear Sir

I have heard about purchasing “reconditioned” stair lifts online through various used stair lift distributors. I have been told that this is an equivalent of recycling stair lifts to do our part with the environment and stair lift industry. Do you offer “reconditioned” stair lifts?

Regards

A. Some people prefer the peace of mind that buying a new lift gives them, since they be covered by a longer warranty and should not have any trouble in sourcing any spare parts. Having said that, reconditioned models can be considerably cheaper, although the length of warranty can vary from company to company. We do supply reconditioned stairlifts.

How will I know which stair lift is the right one?

Q. How will I know which stair lift is the right one for me? Do you have any type of consultation service that may assist me in purchasing the right stair lift to suit my needs?

A. Once you have decided to have a stairlift a representative will come to your house and talk you through all the different options available. Most stairlifts have different options available on the lift such as powered swivel and seat to foot rest link. The options are also explained in the brochures.

I wanted to know about the seats on your stairlifts?

Q. Perhaps a trivial query, but I wanted to know about the seats on your stairlifts. Are the seats comfortable? What are they made of and would you sugest a particular type for someone with lower back issues?

A. The seats on stairlifts are made from either fabric or Vinyl. They tend to be standard although adjustable in height. If there is an issue with seating it is possible to get a perch lift (standing).

How long is the stair lift installation process?

Q. How long is the stair lift installation process? I hope to be able to get a stair lift installed as soon as possible. Will it consume my entire day?

A. The installation time varies depending on the lift. In general a curved stair lift will take longer than a straight. You can expect to install a straight stair lift in 2 – hours, where as a curved stair lift may take the day to install

In the event of a power cut, how will my stair lift operate, if at all?

Q. In the event of a power cut, how will my stair lift operate, if at all? I live in an area with some adverse weather, particularly in the winter. Would the stair lift be affected by the power cut?

A. Most stairlifts are ran on two 12 volt 7 amp batteries which are charged from the mains, if you have a power cut the batteries will operate the lift, so you will not get stuck.
