Does the installation of a fixed platform lift for wheelchairs require more than 24 hours of access?

Q. Does the installation of a fixed platform lift for wheelchairs require more than 24 hours of access to the property to where it is being installed?

Thanks

Peter Jenkins

A. Peter,Innovate lifting Systems will arrange for the times of install to suit you. Generally speaking a plaftorm lift, once delivered to site, of up to 3 floors can be installed within one working day. All of our lifts – platform lifts, incline platform lifts, dumbwaiters, goods lifts and step lifts can be installed within one working day. For larger projects, more time may be needed.Regards

Our staircase is only 1.5 metres wide. Will this be enough room to install a stair lift?

Q. Our staircase is only 1.5 metres wide. Will this be enough room to install a stair lift?

A. It depends on the leg lengh of the person using the lift, but i do not think you will have any problems.

A concern of mine is the wiring of the power going to the stair lift

Q. A concern of mine is the wiring of the power going to the stair lift. Not just aesthetically, but also in regards to safety. Does it change the appearance of the stairs much?

A. This depends on the stairlift, if it is main or battery powered. The only wiring to worry about is the main power supply going to the transformer if it is powered by batteries after this point it becomes DC Voltage and is harmless. There is no wiring visable on the stairs as it runs through the rail so can not be seen. The wiring running up to the rail is normally run under the carpet or against the wall so again is barely visable.

Can we install a automatic pump into the service lift shaft in case of flooding?

Q. Our premises are in the Cumbria area and we are prone to flooding every so often. Can we install a automatic pump into the service lift shaft in case it happens again?

A. If we were to install one of our lifts, there would be a space below the bottom entrance to install a pump as described. We can also offer a pit access door as part of the manufacture process to allow for easy access to this area. Many thanks

Do service lifts require a motor room or space for a motor room?

Q. Hey, Do service lifts require a motor room or space for a motor room? How much space would be needed?

A. The motor room on our lifts is positioned on top of the self supporting structure, therefore there is no additional motor room required. We generally require around 2500mm headroom on the top floor level in order to accomodate this however, if 2500mm is not available we can offer a bespoke solution to a minimum of 2100mm headroom.Alternatively an under driven option is available at an additional cost. We position the motor room at the bottom of the shaft which vastle reduces the headroom requirement in turn.

Thank you for your question.

Can a service lift be installed so that it opens on one side at one level and the other side at a different level?

Q. Can a service lift be installed so that it opens on one side at one level and the other side at a different level?

A. This is an extremely common configuration and is possible to manufacture. There are several arrangements that we can offer depending on your needs/requirements. All of our lifts come complete with stainless steel cabin doors to ensure all items stay inside the cabin during travel. This eliminates the chance of breakdowns. Many thanks.

I wondered how long it would it take to bring and install the bath lift once purchased?

Q. I wondered how long it would it take to bring and install the bath lift once purchased?

A. Bellavita and Bath Buddy lifts require no installation and are delivered to your door within a week. The Relaxa is delivered within a week and fitting will be as soon after that as we can get a fitter to you – usually about a week.

I have a door at the bottom of my stairwell. Would this present an issue when it came time to install my stair lift?

Q. I have a door at the bottom of my stairwell. Would this present an issue when it came time to install my stair lift?

A. This depends where the door is, and it is hard to say with out seeing it. Normaly you could use a hinge track to overcome this problem.
