What is an inflatable bath lift?
These really are a wonderful, and actually very simple invention, which has revolutionized the way many physically disabled or elderly people can approach the idea of bathing. Essentially these bath lifts use compressed air to inflate and deflate the seat thus lowering or raising the user in or out of the bath with greater ease and without the normal physical strain which this ordeal might well entail for them.
The bath lift is attached into the base of the bath by strong suction cup and the compressor, and the controls by which the user can dictate what happens, are kept outside of the bath. Some models even contain an adjustable back rest as a way of bringing extra-comfort to those who normally suffer and find bathing a chore.
They are not the choice for people with serious physical impairments as the user will still need to be able to lift their legs over the rim of the bath whilst they are seated; such major disabilities would perhaps be better catered for with a specialist disabled bath, rather than this accessory which fits into your normal bath. Talk to your chosen supplier if you are unsure.
