How does a straight stair lift work?
Straight stair lifts work in much the same way as their curved counterparts do. A chair is fixed onto the chassis or railings of the stair lift and then the chair is carried up and down the stairs by a track which pulls up or pulls down the stair lift in order to move it. The user is always in complete control as one of the arm rests of the chair, or a separate hand-held gadget, can control the speed and direction of the chair. The speed is always constant and fairly slow to allow for a smooth ride up to the top or down to the bottom for people who may very well be physically frail.
Straight stair lifts are the most common form of stair lift which is found and they help thousands of people every year remain independent in their own homes and give them a better quality of life. Railings and seatbelts also mean that the user is always completely safe and there is no danger of them falling out and having a nasty accident. Their sibling, the curved stair lift, works in much the same way as well.
