How do mobile access platforms work?

Essentially, mobile access platforms work in the same way as their immobile counterparts; it’s just that they can be moved around to different jobs and different locations with greater ease.  Whilst most access platforms are attached on to other vehicles, or indeed come with their own wheels built in to their chassis or body, mobile access platforms isn’t really a term which applies to the huge ones which are capable of lifting up to 40 tonnes. Yes, they are mobile, but only in the sense that they can move, they are hardly convenient as they must be moved from place to place very slowly.  Thus mobile access platforms will tend to be the smaller, cherry-picker style ones, or some of the smaller forms of scissor lift.

They work in much the same way as their larger siblings do, based on the power of hydraulics which is explained numerous times on various parts of this website. Mobile access platforms are controlled by a panel on the actual platform itself which allows the user to dictate the speed and height of the platform being used. They are useful for moving people rather than heavy objects.
