How do bath seats work?
Bath seats are quite similar to bath lifts, but there are some important differences which it is important to take note of. They provide a sitting platform (as indeed the name would suggest) to allow the user to sit in the bath and wash themselves; it is a great alternative to struggling to hoist oneself in and out of the bath. Bathing, after all, should be a relaxing experience and, for many people, bath seats can make this dream a reality. However, the user still requires good upper body strength and balance in order to get into the bath in the first place and to use the product safely; thus it is not really a solution for people who have upper-body disabilities.
The products which are available vary quite widely and this means that you will be able to find one with a suitable material and a suitable height which will fit your needs and your disabilities. Because it is simply an adjustable seat, they can fit into most baths and thus no extensive re-working of the bathroom is needed; this can save unnecessary hassle as well as time and money. Grab-rails come as optional extras.
