How often should I have forklift maintenance?

This is a question which, as I’m sure you are aware by now, cannot be answered with any sort of regularity.  The answer will all depend on several different variants; how often do you use the forklift? For how long has it been in service and what sort of weights is it regularly asked to lift? All these will affect how often the forklift needs to undergo maintenance and how often you need to get it checked out.

You should, as always, speak to your supplier when you first make your purchase and they should be able to talk you through a maintenance plan for your forklift which will ensure that it keeps running as well as possible for as long as is possible.  Also, as well as this regular maintenance which should be undertaken even if there doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with your forklift, you should get any other problems which emerge in the interim periods checked out immediately. Don’t be tempted to simply wait for the next maintenance check to roll around; by then the damage may already have been done and it could well be too late. Act now to save yourself time later.
