How often should you have dumbwaiters serviced?
This is a question, as is the case with all other types of lift, which really does have no fixed answer, there are so many variables, especially with dumbwaiters which have been around for so long, that it would be impossible to give a regulated answer to the question. If you have a traditional and, by implication, very old dumbwaiter in your business or in your home then it is clearly going to need much more attention, and specialist attention at that, than a newer service lift or dumbwaiter would do.
Talk to your supplier and, if you take the plunge and get a new dumbwaiter, ask them how often you should be maintaining it. Because they only tend to run over short distances and carry fairly small weights they will not need to be looked after as much as bigger elevators which are carrying more passengers and are having to do more work. Getting your dumbwaiter serviced will also depend on whether it is motor-run or whether it is the old-fashioned pulley system- both have their downsides but both need very different types of maintenance. It all depends on your individual product.
