What are the different types of wheelchair lifts?
There are different types of wheelchair lift, but you shouldn’t let the plethora of choices out there become overwhelming to you; the different types serve different purposes and thus, as long as you know what it is you are looking for, you needn’t worry that the process will be exhausting; you will likely find how surprisingly easily it is.
The main type of disabled lift is the type we see every day in our shopping centres and in our places of work. They can raise the user up to one metre, which makes them perfect for the short distances needed to travel in order to avoid steps or awkward shifting between levels; however, clearly at 1 meter, they are not suitable for travelling up several floors, this is where a normal passenger lift would come into play. There are also the lifts which you can have fitted in your own home, these can generally go up to two floors and hold a weight of around 230kg, meaning that they are perfect for helping people to maintain their own independence in their own home. Many are designed to be as small as structurally un-invasive as possible.
