How many different types of lift platforms are there?

This is certainly not a question which is easily answered; there are a plethora of different types of lift platforms out there, and a vast array of different manufacturers and distributors who will all try and convince you to go with their company as well! It can all be a bit confusing but really, you just need to keep your head screwed on and keep what it is you need at the very front of your mind; as well as the differing directions and angles which platform lifts can go in, you also need to decide whether or not you want something basic or aestetically stunning and how many people you need it to be able to accommodate- does there just need to be room for one wheelchair? A wheelchair and a helper?  Or does there need to be the room, and indeed the strength, to carry more than one wheelchair?  The exact purpose of the incline lift will determine what type you ultimately need. Also, are you needing a private lift platform or a public one? They will both be highly safe but ones used in public will be expected to conform with many more safety regulations.
