What are the different types of disabled access?
Disabled access is something which has rocketed to the top of the political and moral agenda in recent years. Whereas it didn’t used to be mandatory for public places to make life easier for those who may not be as physically abled as others, there are now stringent rules in place which make sure that discrimination, of any kind, cannot take place.
You need to think about lots of different types of disabled access; there is the actual getting into your location, do you need a ramp or some sort of stair lift? Once inside, do you need a lift, or a disabled platform, in order for everyone to be able to access the different levels which your shop or business might be on? You also need to think about disabled access to toilet facilities and, if you’re running a hotel or hospitality company, how are you going to cater for any disabled guests in terms of a bathroom and washing facilities?
All these questions need to be addressed at the very start of any companies life, failure to comply with the now stringent laws can result in fines and often much worse.
